Our Prezi Designs in Action: Missouri Golf Association

We recently had the opportunity to collaborate with the Missouri Golf Association on an exciting project featuring the Ken Lanning Golf Center, a 9-hole handicap accessible golf course designed for children and individuals with disabilities.

Vanessa Johnson, long-time friend of the Missouri Golf Association, approached us looking for help in redesigning the presentation the MGA was using.  We worked closely with Vanessa to design a Prezi that would inspire potential donors and help them understand the mission and vision of the project. We were able to use digital renderings of the golf course map as the framework for the Prezi presentation – placing the presentation content at various holes as we moved around the course.

The purpose of the course is to provide children and individuals with disabilities the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of golf by providing them a course designed specifically to meet their unique needs.  The course is not just designed as a golf course but as a learning center and place for families to be able to get out and enjoy the sport. As one of the first golf courses of its kind, we wanted to create a Prezi that really conveyed the uniqueness of the course.

After months of fundraising with the Prezi presentation, the Ken Lanning Golf Center is close to becoming a reality!

Construction for the course was still underway while we were developing the presentation, but we were able to take the digital course concepts and visually recreate them in Prezi.  As a project benefiting groups such as Special Olympics Missouri, the Wounded Warrior Project, Boys and Girls Clubs, and the Special Learning Center, we saw this presentation as an opportunity to leverage Prezi’s capabilities to help people recognize the potential of the project and the value it would bring to the local community.

Scott Hovis, executive director of the Missouri Golf Association, has been using the Prezi for a couple of months now, either sending it out online to potential donors or giving live presentations.  He even had the opportunity to present the course and Prezi to the governor of Missouri, a long time friend and ally in public service.  The feedback for the Prezi has been very positive: “It looks sharp,” Hovis says, “Many people tell me it is very professional – cleaner, and way better than our first presentation.”

Now that construction on the Ken Lanning Golf Center is complete, we’re able to see the digital concepts from the Prezi presentation in real life!  Below is a recent aerial picture of the course taken from an airplane. Our thanks to the Missouri Golf Association and its partners for allowing us to be a part of this inspiring project giving back to children and individuals with disabilities.
