As we discussed in an earlier blog post, March was a crazy month for us here at Puffingston as we collaborated with four different companies / speakers on Prezi projects for the SXSW conference in Austin, Texas.

All of our clients reported success with their Prezi presentations, but Tinitell CEO Mats Horn’s presentation went especially well as his company ended up winning the SXSW Accelerator Award in the wearables category!

Tinitell is a Swedish startup that’s created a mobile phone watch for kids that is simple to use, durable enough for “play time” and allows parents to easily stay connected with their children. The company was selected from hundreds of entries as one of the finalists for the SXSW Accelerator competition, allowing them to present their technology in-person at the SXSW Interactive Festival on Saturday, March 14.

Mats originally reached out to us about the Prezi project as he was boarding his international flight from Stockholm, Sweden (where Tinitell is based) en route to Texas for the event. His team had come up with a basic design for the presentation but wanted our input and expertise to take it to the next level—especially because Prezi was one of the event sponsors!

From a design perspective, the competition was especially tricky because presenters were only allowed 2 minutes to pitch, so we needed to create a visual aid that was engaging, dynamic and closely aligned with the words Mats would be speaking.

While Mats was traversing the Atlantic Ocean, we were able to develop a concept for the Prezi that would clearly define the presentation’s four pillars—a good team, the problem, the solution and the market—while also showcasing the dynamic product photos and marketing multimedia the Tinitell team had prepared.

Once Mats arrived in Austin, we were able to connect in-person to review and refine the presentation until the talk and visual aids were aligned to the second!

The Saturday presentation went great and we found out that afternoon Tinitell had been selected as one of the three finalists for the category.

The finals allowed presenters to pitch for 5 minutes, so we reconnected with Mats to expand on some of the content in the Prezi while still utilizing the successful framework from the first pitch.

On Sunday Mats delivered another great presentation and that night Tinitell was announced as the winner of the Accelerator Award for the wearables category! Definitely cause for a night of celebrating on Sixth Street in Austin…:)
